Guest guest
Hi! I hope everyone had a wonderful Mother's day. Max has been in his DOCband for just over 7 weeks now. We are slowly seeing progress. He will have to have a second band and possibly a third. We have BCBS and I was wondering if there might be a chance they will pay something toward the second band. I read a previous post that mentioned that it is viewed as a continuation of care/treatment. You never know with these frustrating insurance companies, though! We have found a new ped who advocates for helmet/band therapy. Our previous ped was not supportive at all. After sharing this with our clinician she has arranged for a representative from CT to visit his office with literature and to meet with him. I was so excited when she mentioned this. Our situation was so frustrating and scary to go through...if this would help even one family it would be worth it. Max is just a little trooper. We've been out and about quite a bit. I have to admit it was hard for me at first and sometimes still is. People for the most part are just curious. I had a grandma stop me at church and ask all about the band. She is so concerned about her grandchild. It really is a way to educate people and gain more awareness for plagio. I still have my up's and down's. Our clinician said this is really normal. We just keep plugging away. I keep praying for a growth spurt!!! All my best to the group. Thanks to all of you who have shared pictures. The little ones are just precious. Sorry to ramble...just wanted to share a little bit about us. Thanks! Kathleen (Max's mom, 10.5 months, banded 3/20)
Guest guest
Kathleen, Glad to hear that you are seeing some progress. Hang in there - you'll get there. Great news about finding a good ped and even better news that CT will arrange a visit to your old ped to help educate him about plagio and banding. You're doing a great service to future babies no doubt. Marci (Mom to ) Oklahoma > Hi! > > I hope everyone had a wonderful Mother's day. Max has been in his > DOCband for just over 7 weeks now. Guest guest
That is just wonderful about Max getting correction already!! Way to Grow, Max!! Hat's off to CT for going to the ped's office for a visit. That is wonderful!!!! CT is so aware/concerned for these babies! I'm also glad you found a ped that is very supportive of the banding treatments. dustie > Hi! > > I hope everyone had a wonderful Mother's day. Guest guest
Congratulations on progress...any progress is a cause for celebration. One suggestion for the stares/curiosity when you are out and about....we had our son's band painted to look like a Dallas Stars hockey helmet and we have had so much fun with it. Sadly, his time in the band has outlasted the Stars playoff run BUT we have had so many people stop us to ask where we got the cool hat! It doesn't even occur to them that it could be a medical device. If you have the talent (we didn't and ended up paying someone) to decorate it, you might feel more comfortable. Good luck. BTW -- One mom I know had hers painted to look like a " sparing helmet " for boxing with the " everlast " logo on the front. It was so perfect because they do look like little boxers in their helmets ready to take on the world! > Hi! > > I hope everyone had a wonderful Mother's day.
