Hello,

My name is Pamela, I'm 53 years old and have asthma. I work in a

bldg. with mold contamination and it is suspected that my asthma is

progressing to severe asthma or bronchiectasis; as I seem to get sick

very easily.

On Thursday I go for a chest xray and cat scan of the thoracic and

lungs to make this determination. There will be a comprehensive

pulmonary function test about a week later to make the final

diagnosis or see if anything has changed.

I wanted to join your group for any information on this puzzling

disease I may have and to meet you and get your input.

Hi Pam, welcome to the group. I'm 50 and have severe asthma and

bronchiectasis which only flared up 2 years ago so I'm convinced age

has something to do with all this. When you have your cat scan result

you will know what you are facing. I had to wait some weeks before the

result of the scan, hopefully you'll find out sooner. Are you in the US

or what?

When you have your diagnosis you'll learn lots from everyone on this

list, I'd have been lost without their help when I first got sick!

Good Luck on Thursday June In London UK

June thank you for the welcome. Yes I am in the United States, on

the East Coast in New Jersey.

I'm hoping that my wait time will not be long following the scan.

However it will be at least a week because my PF test will not be

done until the following week, and at that time, the pulmo. will make

the diagnosis.

Thanks.

Hi Pamela, I have not been in the bronch group very long but found everyone

so helpful and supportive at a time when i became so depressed from my

deteriorating lung problems--I'm 56 --live in sunny Qld Australia --my

bronchiectasis has only become a problem since i became infected with

pseudomonas in the last year or so --hope you get good news from your

Dr --the Ct scans give a good picture of whats there--wish you well--cheers

Hi Pamela,

Welcome to the group. I started having problems with this

lovely disease six and a half years ago, but it wasn’t until a bronchoscopy was done that it was diagnosed. A CT scan was done before, but all that did was rule out cancer and

show that there was scar tissue.

I live just outside of Milwaukee, Wisconsin so we’re practically neighbors. It’s probably only about a day and

a half drive from your house to mine. How about coffee? On a more serious note, the information

that has been shared in this group is incredible. Don’t be afraid to ask any

question and PLEASE share what ever information you get.

Hi Del, I too live in sunny Q, land and suffer lots of illness, lung, heart, spinal tumor , chronic pain , R/A, fibbromyalgia etc. it is a great group ,

I have just joined, and I,m finding all very interesting, some helpful, some tried tested and some hasn,t worked for me.

But with a group like this we can all share and keep on learning.' I would like to know more about the lung hygeine thing more, if you can forward on, one can only try.

I don,t get as much physical excersise as I would like because of pain , I could endure the huffing and puffing, but I can,t endure the pain for long, it hampers all excersise.

Look forward to a reply,

Sandy , Q, land ( Hervey Bay)

hi sandy, this is the flutter valve that roger has used for years~he now has a different kind but same principle.

daily hygiene is vital to surviving with bronch. and avoiding infections~if that's possible!

http://www.treat-copd.com/acapella.html

also if you visit a cystic fibrosis website you will find lots of information as the lung problems of cfers is similar to bronchs.

Hello Pamela,

Welcome to our chat group, I have not been a member for very long, but have learned so much and feel healthier for trying out new things suggested by the group. I have had Bronchiectisis for 54 years I am now 64 so hardly know life without it. I am still able to lead a fairly normal life except walking up hills and carrying heavy parcels. hope you get as much from these friends as I have. Cheers Doreen M in Australia.
