Cheryl,

Do you have regular appointments scheduled with your

specialist or do you only see him when you’re really ill? I see my pulmonologist every one to

three months with scheduled visits and call him when I have problems in

between. He always knows what’s

going on with me and I feel a little more comfortable. My internist always checks how things

have been going when I see him for yearly visits. They are both with the same clinic

(although in different towns) so they both see the same medical chart which is

sent back and forth depending on where I have an appointment scheduled.

roger has 6 month check ups, with pft's with the respirologist and can see him if he's sick, usually quite quickly.

he prefers to see our family doctor if he is sick as he's closer......and he makes sure roger has a antibiotic filled and ready to take at home when necessary. if roger is suspicious of an infection one of us takes his sputum sample to the lab~he has a standing order~and waits to hear the result from our fam.dr.

we are comfortable with both drs. and trust them.
