Guest guest
Hiya June hope you are doing a bit better now? it must be so horrible to have this condition and then have an infection on top, its bad enough when I get a chest infection and it affects my asthma and having to cough up stuff. Must be awful really to have this problem all the time watching my poor hubby coughing his heart up some times, is horrible to watch, him suffer, but up until this endocarditis and now he has been pretty infection free, except getting a flare up with his ezcema. and housemaids knee. Take care and remember this, as I do remind myself with my fibro flare ups, it does get better, after a flare, whatever the condition is, so try to stay positive best you can, I know its hard when you are feeling so lousy, all chronic conditions in a flare or made worse by infection or eniviromental factors do have better times, just tell yourself you will get though it and I will have you in my thoughts and prayers tonight that you make a speedy as possible recovery and are back to your normal self. One think i learnt after doing an 'expert patient course' earlier this year, is that doesn't matter what the chronic health condition(s) it is quite normal to feel low, dispare and depressed at times of flare ups and exasibated conditions. Sometimes my hubby has stopped hacking after throwing up, sometimes no matter how hard you try to spit it out, you can't and it end up heading to your stomach as malc gets like that odd times, normaly after a good removal of flem that has gone on his stomach he often improves, so sounds like what you needed to clear yourself out. so disgusting your Dr, i used to be treated like a hypochondriac for 8 years, until they finally dx'd me with fibromyalgia that I had had for all those 8 years, but I still get the odd dr that isn't very professional. I suggest maybe you change your doctor if you can, it can't be doing your mental health side any favours, when yo get spoken to badly and treated like putting it mildly 'dog dirt'. Maybe you should ring up, sometimes you have to make a 'pest' out of yourself to get looked at and treated with respect, sometimes they treat you quickly and sort you out better just to get rid of a person thats demanding their rights to proper treatment. Take care and hugs Elaine Hi everyone, Lynne and Elaine thanks for the hugs and help. This afternoon I was so bad I didn't know what to do. I saw my GP on Tuesday and he was beastly, reduced me to tears when I came out. Have decided I can't go on like this, if no improvement tomorrow after my Accupuncture then I will phone the Brompton hospital and see if they can bring my appointment forward. Felt so rough earlier I am ashamed to say I pigged a large bar of choccy and promptly threw up. However I think that is what I needed because I have stopped hacking (probably only for a few hours). I'm trying to think this thing through instead of panicking and I know the problem is the huge amount of gunk in my lungs, but I am doing the flutter, Postural Drainage etc, the problem is as fast as I clear it my lungs fill again but WHY??? The A/B's must be doing something cos now the gunk is white, not yellow. I now have such a huge amount of sympathy for people with CF, how do you live with lungs constantly full of wallpaper paste? Waiting for my latest cure to arrive hopefully tomorrow, the Chinese mushrooms (Mannitol) I'm always the eternal optimist hoping the next thing will be THE CURE. Loads of love to all the wonderful people on this site, Lynne I know you've been really bad too, thanks for taking the time to help meJune ALL-NEW Yahoo! Messenger - all new features - even more fun! Guest guest
June, I’m glad that you mentioned throwing up because it made my brain start working. (It’s too bad that you had to throw up chocolate though.) I always wind up throwing up quite a bit with coughing after starting an antibiotic course. I think that it is the antibiotic working and trying to get rid of all the gunk. I do feel lots better afterward. I start my maintenance antibiotic course tomorrow which means that by Saturday morning I will be throwing up right along with you. What a lovely thought. Tell me about these Chinese mushroom things. My lungs are so full of fungus that just the thought of another fungus makes my skin crawl. I’ve read that mannitol is closely related to sorbitol which is a sweetener that is added to a lot of packaged food. Sorbitol often gives children diarrhea so I can see how mannitol could loosen things up in the lungs too. Maybe out daily therapy should include baking a package of brownie mix with sorbitol and eating the whole pan. Barb Thanks for the support Hi everyone, Lynne and Elaine thanks for the hugs and help. Guest guest
June are you running a temperature? Sometimes white bubbly mucus coming up is a symptom of pneumonia. Altho' if you saw the doctor a few days ago that does not seem likely. What do you usually take for bronchospasm? in Ca.
Guest guest
Hi June, By the sound of it the antib's have done their job and the throwing up is the clearing of all the gunk which has icumalated, I remember when the kids were sick they nearly always vomited when they had a chest infection. I have on occasion took Brondecon to help get the muck off my chest, it contains something like ipicac which is used to induce vomiting. I fellow I knew years ago with Bronchiestasis used to say, "I wouldn't mind coughing all this muck up if it could be used for something, all that effort and it seems such a waste". Hope you are feeling much better, Cheers Doreen M Thanks for the support Hi everyone, Lynne and Elaine thanks for the hugs and help. This afternoon I was so bad I didn't know what to do.
