Guest guest Posted July 24, 2008 Report Share Posted July 24, 2008 I've had this (my first) bout of EN now for about 3 months, and I've noticed " improvement " : Much less contact pain, some bumps even painless Reduced redness in about half of affected areas I am experiencing a lot of itching on the most affected area (my left ankle) and am wondering if this could be related to my normally dry skin or preexisting psoriasis? Or is this normal for EN? Additionally, will the darkened " bruise-like " areas from old, now pain-free areas eventually go away? Or am I doomed to horrendous legs forever, now? Guest guest Posted July 24, 2008 Report Share Posted July 24, 2008 I just want to say that there is hope for brown spots going away! I was starting to doubt this myself, but it's true. I'm, sure the length of time it takes for each person varies. Me EN started mid april, and I've noticed that the last two weeks the spots are fading. Mine also had a weird bruised look- I had worried ppl were going to see them and wonder if I'd been hurt or fell down some stairs or something. I think the fading can be a slow process too. Dr's had told me it could take 6+ months for the spots to fade after the nodules flatten out. The itchy feelind could be from dry skin, which sometimes forms where it was swollen (edema) but has returned to normal. hang in there, you'll keep feeling better and better. Guest guest Posted July 25, 2008 Report Share Posted July 25, 2008 I have PG. The areas which were active four years ago have finally returned to a normal color. They are definitely scars, but the coloring is not extremely noticable, as they certainly used to be. The areas are flat and smooth. The skin seems more thin. When you pass a finger over, the scar area wrinkles more than the normal skin. I hope you all find this encouraging. My initial scars were very raised, still about as much burning and prickling as the active lesions, and very darkly discolored. Good things take time in this case, but there is marked improvement. If I ever stop getting new erruptions, I have hope that I will not feel terribly and permanantly disfigured (as I had been believing during the first couple of years). I now believe that I can look forward to smooth and relatively normal looking legs after a few years of no active areas. Guest guest Posted July 27, 2008 Report Share Posted July 27, 2008 I too have PG.. and have seen the dark coloration of the scarred areas fade somewhat over time.. years :-) My PG scars are sunken areas.. and have diminished feeling, likely because the ulcers were so deep the nerves were ultimately damaged.
