Ron..

It's Mom's (and I will translate for you too) *laughing*. Sure, we

take a lot of things from the British (English measurement system,

case law, and a certain property in North America, among other

things). Pat (Sajak, host of " Wheel of Fortune " ), can I have an " o "

please? And, an -er instead of -re? Center, theater, liter,

meter...just kidding with you. I respect the metric system very

much. One of my friends in Austria has trouble trying to convert

from metric to English, so I do that for her (she speaks both German

English, some in Russian, some in French, and is taking Italian).

Well put linda! To all you mom's on here please do us all a favor today...take a break! Have a long hot bath, go for a walk outside, read a book on the beach, this is your day. May you enjoy it. Unwrap yourself if you say Happy Mummy's Day.

To all the kind people who acknowledged Mothers Day - thank you - from

all us mums (or moms). I, for one, appreciated your kind words and

thoughts.

to all: FYI , the United States, Liberia and one other third-world-country-I-can't-recall are the only countries in the whole wide world who do not use the metric sysytem.   Janet ZEE who knows a liter is a little more than a quart. Ron..It's Mom's (and I will translate for you too) *laughing*. I don' think so, more a derivative of momma, mommie; older style is mam, mamma, mammie.   It's probably all the same primal sound of need/hunger that young everywhere make, just a different vowel used in different locales/languages.   jkz mmmmmmm-good!Is it true that the American titlle MOM is an abreviation of Mother of Mine? Greg dx AS at 53 "Ron H." <hedrichdodo.au> Sent by: aspires-relationships 11/05/2008 10:10 PMPlease respond toaspires-relationships To<aspires-relationships >ccSubjectRE: Re: Happy Mother's Day And for all the Australian and British Mothers out there, -   I must translate for your benefit.   Happy MUM’s day.(Sorry , but I just couldn’t resist that!) Ron. Thanks for the tidbit, Janet. I'll remember that one the next time I

play Trivial Pursuit :)

, who knows that a meter is approximately 1.1 yards.
