Guest guest
Hello all Art Therapist in tri-state area. I recently pitched my non-profit, The Animation Project (TAP) to a Foundation. TAP uses computer animation as an art therapy medium with at-risk adolescents. The foundation liked TAP programming so much that they requested I submit a grant proposal - even though their deadline was two months ago on April 15th! They said they had read over 100 of the 152 applicants submitted and nothing was as exciting as what TAP is doing. They particularly liked the fact that I was working with 'difficult' adolescents. One catch, besides having a week to put a proposal together (which means it is due Wednesday, June 25th) is that they only fund multi-state programming. So, does anyone have a relationship with any sites in NJ or CT, or elsewhere? If I can line up an organization that serves adolescents in a state other than NY I have a pretty good shot at $50,000, which I would use to hire part-staff to begin programming there. There would be no-fee for the site itself, as the grant could cover all staff expenses. If you have a moment, let me know if you can put me in touch with anyone who might accept a year of free programming. Please respond to: brian@... in advance, AustinTo: NYCCAT@...: drena@...: Mon, 16 Jun 2008 08:17:27 -0400Subject: Re: Permit and Lincensure It's worth noting that the standards for where LCATS can get clinical hours is comparable to those of other mental health professions, like Social Work. The Dept of Professions requires the Operating Certificate (which all agencies providing mental health services, like clinics and psych hospitals, have) as a requirement for LMSW's pursuing their clinical license (LCSW). To quote from the website: " General hospitals, schools, and community-based organizations " are not considered " clinical " sites. So, it seems that the LCAT is being held to that higher standard. This is probably not in our best interest because of the limited supply of clinic-based work for CATS.
