Since we've been on the subject of starers, questioners and rude

commenters, here's my question of the day for everyone!

What are some responses/comebacks that you would LOVE to use when

people make rude comments or stare at you?

My mom's suggestion (if someone asks why he's in the helmet): " Oh,

since he's so tall for his age, we've decided to start him in pee-wee

football. "

I told my friend, Jenn, that I want to pierce my nose and/or die my

hair hot pink and when someone stares at , I can say, " I know...

I'm a little old to have hot pink hair, but when the urge hits...! "

She suggested saying something like, (in a panicky voice) " What? Do

I have spinach in my teeth? Shoot, I just had a salad and I was

afraid this would happen... Wow, thanks for staring, otherwise I

never would have known! "

She also suggested that I put in bold letters on the helmet, " Yeah,

like you're normal! " (I *still* cannot stop laughing at the person

who said your daughter's says, " WHAT ARE YOU LOOKING AT? " )

So, bring 'em on! What have you always wanted to say and just

haven't had the guts? (Or what HAVE you said that will just crack me

up?!?)

Tara, you are just too funny. I love it. People would always ask us why

our baby had to wear a bike helmet when he rides in a stroller, we just

laugh and walk away. I love it when you said about being normal!! Just too

funny. I think that we all could write a book, you know, like chicken soup

for the soul book, but we could put in what people say to us about our

helmets. Man, we could sell millions!! Well, maybe just to other plagio

parents, but it would be a great coffee table book to read while waiting at

the doctors office. Keep up the good work. Best wishes, Heidi, mom to

Oh you're so funny Tara!!!!!

The nastiest I ever got was in the beginning when 2 women's heads turned as we walked by and then the whispering began....I just said "what are you lookin at?"....after that I never really remember saying anything back, and I let the stares go right over my head, never really bothered me much in all honesty.

lol I wish that I would have thought to put " what are you staring

at " on 's band!! That would have been great!!

One time, this very old lady, greeting at Wal-Mart, looked at me with

total terror on her face. She said, WHAT HAPPENED? I said, are you

talking to me? She said, yes. I said, what do you mean? She

pointed at and said, what did she do? I said, I don't know, what

did she do? I said, did she put something in her mouth? She said, I

don't know? I said, did she spit-up? She said, I don't

know...Before it was over with, I had this poor little old lady so

confused, she just started talking to my other girls. My oldest,

, as we were walking off, said, mommy, she was talking about

's helmet. I leaned over to her and said in a very soft voice, I

know........Never brought it up again, except when I got home and

told DH about it and he told me that was mean doing that to an old

lady. It might have been mean, but just because she is old, does not

give her the right to act that way towards ppl. Also, My other 2

girls were with me and I certainly didn't want them to think that

there was something wrong with , or be embarrassed by

her " helmet " . Sorry for the long story, this typing just got away

from me.

We've been pretty lucky so far that we haven't encountered too many

rude people. Maybe people have stared but I guess I either ignored

it or just didn't notice. The one experience that we did have was

on a road trip two weeks ago. We were at a rest stop and DH was

holding out in the lobby area and I was in the restroom. I

guess a man came out of the bathroom and passed them and then

blatently turned around to stare at and kept staring. He

was foreign so maybe that was his excuse, not sure, but I guess DH

looked at him and said " Do you have a staring problem? " I'm not

sure what I'll do when I have an encounter. Hopefully that won't

happen but I'm sure that we'll have more once we get him out more

and more in the nice summer weather.
