Guest guest
, I think that it is good news, because I have been very apprehensive about using The Vest therapy. I think that the answer is that the doctors do not have the answer. He was a bit puzzled and suggested that the cyanosis might be due to the pressure of The Vest on the superficial blood vessels around the chest during treatment. My skin is very thin and I am slim in build so perhaps he is right. in Ca.
Guest guest
Tina, You are so right. I also think that with all the new technologies nowadays that doctors are able to find physical flaws that were never investigated in the old days. The heart is such a strong organ and can withstand amazing physical traumas. Who knows how many children are running around with minor developmental heart defects. I just got back from the Cardiologist. Got some good news for both of us. He did a stress test and some other test on the table. Then discussed the valve problems. As for the tricuspid valve leak, that is now considered an age related syndrome and not a problem to be concerned about either. So I left the office in a more positive frame of mind. My b.p. is normal and the heart is functioning normally for my age. He said that I should not worry about the blue color change that occurs after I use The Vest. He thinks that it must have something to do with mucus shifting. Personally I don't agree with that assessment because I asked the Pulmonologist about it and I was referred back to the Cardiologist. . in Ca.Post your free ad now! Yahoo! Guest guest
Pulmonologists and cardiologists often argue over whose organ is to blame for cyanosis. So long as it is fleeting and resolves reasonably quickly it is not a major worry. As for the Tricuspid leak...hmmmm has a tricuspid leak at 14???? He also has moderate mitral valve leakage which he has had since his heart surgery at a year old. He has had problems with High pulmonary pressures which is the only issue that both Pulmonologist and cardiologist agree on...at the moment it is not an issue but needs to be watched as it can easily become a serious issue! Guest guest
, I also have a mitral valve prolapse (had it over 25 yrs). And it is true, you don't have to be too concerned about it. The only thing I have to worry about is when I have my teeth cleaned or worked on. I have to take antibiotics that day. They claim if your gums bleed bacteria can get into your blood stream and damage your heart. Anyone else have this problem? >From: BCSCOFFMAN@... >Reply-To: bronchiectasis >To: Nor236@..., Bronchiectasis@yahoo groups.com >Subject: dr. appt. >Date: Tue, 28 Sep 2004 16:35:08 EDT > >Hi Norma! Guest guest
You are right about dental precautions. I used to take Penicillin tabs when getting my teeth cleaned. The last few years I would just clean thoroughly and rinse with a strong medicated mouthwash before going to the dentist. But still would get the occasional bleed from the gum. I have cut my dental cleaning visits to just once a year now. in Ca.
Guest guest
, I think my dentist is just very cautious. His office receptionist calls me the day before the appointment to remind me to take my antibiotic two hours before my appointment.
