Guest guest
Hi June, Glad to hear that you are learning how to live with bronchiectasis. I have a lot of supplements too. Some of my doctors think that they are not helpful. I thought that my new primary care doctor who is American-Chinese would agree with the use of supplements. I think that the teas that Cheryl mentioned are helpful. I drink a large variety of tea. In the U.S. green tea is promoted as being high in antioxidants. I have broken some ribs and pulled some muscles when coughing and sneezing. Since I have osteoporosis (brittle bone disease), it is easy to break or crack a rib. My husband plans another trip back to London this summer. Where would he buy the Air Waves Gum? Is it only available at a pharmacy? Guest guest
June, I’ve already gone to sleep with a Halls tucked nicely up against my back teeth. Not very safe, but sleep is so nice once in a while. What is in Airwaves? I don’t know if we have anything comparable in the U.S. Barb Spam and airwaves! Hi all, making great progress at last with my mega dose of antibiotic and inhaled steroid. Has a very bad night last Saturday when I had a terrible pain in my ribs, at one point I was doubled over with it. Think I must have pulled something with the coughing. Anyway that has eased and I'm starting to feel there is a little chink of light at the end of this tunnel. Interested to hear other people use Airwaves, I'm a big fan of that and also Halls Menthalyptus sweets. I have bags of those in my bag, my car, by my bed, everywhere. If I'm having a coughing fit those help more than my Ventolin! Probably end up with rotting teeth but...? Cheryl thank you for dealing with the spammer, I knew as soon as I saw it there was something wrong, even I know you can't cure this disease. So cruel to put something like that on here, wonder where he came from? With regard to supplements I have not tried Zinc but I have restarted Ginseng which I find brilliant when I am low physically and emotionally. I take it for 4 weeks and then stop so my body doesn't get over used to it. Have also started Gingko(increases blood supply to the lungs and body) and Lyprinol(Green lipped mussel!) in the hope that these might strengthen my lungs. My family laugh over my box of drugs, it's huge now. I'm even mastering the art of coughing up, so I feel I'm now a fully paid up member of the Bronchiectasis family! Love to all June in London

Since I have osteoporosis (brittle bone disease), it is easy to break or crack a rib. I just pulled a muscle from coughing a few weeks ago and it still hurts, a lot. I thought at first, because it was so painful, and I felt it exactly when it happened, that I'd cracked a rib. However, hot water in the shower alleviates the pain, so I tend to think it's muscular. I haven't bothered mentioning it to a doctor, because I know from past experience the treatment is suck it up, it's gonna be a long six weeks. That means it'll be just about mended by summer, which is good news... Karin
