Guest guest
, I, too, feel very sad about Maggie’s death and hope that Reagan and their sons have the strength to make it through their own special kind of sadness. During the past week, I’ve been bombarded with phone calls asking for donations for cancer and diabetes research and even for holiday meals for the elderly. These are all very worthy charities, but just once I’d like someone to ask for a donation for bronchiectasis research. Barb Maggie I wonder if everyone on this website is feeling as sad as I do at losing our dear friend Maggie ? She was such a great participant and always kept her sense of humour no matter how bad she felt. It just does not seem right that she is no longer with us. At only 28 years of age too. Way too young to die. Remember how she always added a prayer at the end of her e-mails for God to give us healthy lungs? That was so sweet. I believe it was Craig who had the similar experience of a post- operative air leak from his lung. Am I right? I have never heard of that complication before. Has anyone else? When I had my lung surgery and had the lower left lobe and partial upper removed , I came through it without any complications what-so-ever. And that was thirty years ago. in Ca. Guest guest
I just opened my email and was so shocked to hear about Maggie. My heart goes out to Reagan and the children. She was so young and brave. I'll keep praying for her and her family. Guest guest
My heart doctor told me this when I was complaining about the polluted air here in Ca. "Before you go out walking in the mornings look outside. If the leaves on the trees are not moving stay home until a little breeze comes up. Stagnent morning air is full of pollutants and not good for someone with your health problems." I still wear a mask sometimes when I walk the dog, especially when the pollen count is high or there is a lot of construction work going on nearby. on Ca. Guest guest
, What type of mask do you wear? I wear the 3M N95 surgical mask in the winter when I go in stores to protect from germs. I have not been going outdoors to walk here lately as I am allergic to mold. It is higher this month since it rained all but ten days in June. When the sun comes out after all that rain, the mold is really high. I do have another 3M N95 mask that I use when I do go out for walks and clean the house. It seems that when the wind is blowing that it bothers my lungs more as it stirs up the mold. I do have a treadmill and a Total Gym at home and am going back to pulmonary rehabilitation maintenance the beginning of next month for the first two weeks of each month for both my lungs and my worsening osteoporosis. I have to drive about 12 miles into Austin to get to pulmonary rehab. so do not have time the last two weeks of the month due to my Tobramycin treatments twice daily for about one hour. Guest guest
I`ve just been reading `s e-mail about wearing masks and it reminded me of the Australian Lung Foundation newsletter I got last month where they said to protect yourself from cold air you should wear a scarf or a cold air mask over your mouth and nose to warm the air that is entering your lungs. I was wondering, do any of the Australian`s in this group wear a mask when you go out? -- Re: Maggie My heart doctor told me this when I was complaining about the polluted air here in Ca. Guest guest
, I had the post surgery complications of airleak and infection, but an undiagnosed immune problem then ( hyper IgE syndrome ) would have played a large part of it.... Like you , I was never told much of possible complications prior to surgery, nor did I really think to ask about that or other alternatives to surgery........I just wanted to get it over with...!! Barb, the respiratory specialist whom I see, made a similar comment - that I am an " interesting challenge ".....nice eh ! Hopefully Reagan and family are coping with life... cheers Craig Maggie I wonder if everyone on this website is feeling as sad as I do at losing our dear friend Maggie ?
