I’m allergic to sulfa and a whole lot more.. I have a sensitivity to lidocaine. I went in early October for a routine ingrown toe nail trimming. They used Marcaine for the anesthetic. Well I found out the hard way that the suspension for the Marcaine is Sodium Metabisulfite and I reacted badly. Badly as in chills, fevers, body aches within 6 hours that lead to a serious kidney infection. I hate Sodium Metabisulfite and all the related preservatives. Especially when they put them in foods! (I also can’t use the Natamycin and Erthrobic Acid, Erythrobate, etc so that eliminated many of the cheeses and lunchmeats and sausages). I wish the FDA would put a moratorium on the use of antibiotics as a preservative or food spray! There are too many people allergic to them, and constant daily ingetestion can lead to more allergies. Miriam HI Miriam,Actually this allergy to sulfa is on our list of triggers of EN, but rarely do members mention it.Love, You can help Erythema Nodosum Research.
