Guest guest
My mum has MS and always had a nice light tan even though we live in UK - she was diagnosed last year with MS and they also mentioned she had high bilirubin levels - they even had a name for it. No-one seemed overly concerned about trying to get the levels down though so we haven't thought twice about it. Rikki
Guest guest
Rikki, Thanks for sharing your mum's experience with me. Jeff, I appreciate your prompt and exhaustive response. I am truly impressed with your vast knowledge of each subject that is touched upon here. Actually, the only medication that I am currently using is Rebif. Other than that, I am only trying some supplements irregularly. My last treatment with steroids was several months ago. My problem is that this high level (30.90 umol/l - where the maximum reference level is 17.10 umol/l) is a regular thing with me. Actually, when I think about it, I seem to recall that several years ago (before I was diagnosed with MS), during a routine medical check, the doctor noticed the high bilirubin level, and was rather puzzled by it. He was trying to reason something out of it, and was saying that it looked as if I had a permanent inflamation of some sort in my body. We ignored it at that time, but now, I am wondering if there is no connection to MS, and if so if there is anything that I could do to " take advantage " of it in my battle against it. Best regards, Jurek
Guest guest
Jeff, Not in my case - magnesium has no effect on stiffness, numbness or tingling. Calcium may have some effect on the tingling but not to a great extent. The products I have used to get rid of tingling are progesterone, bovine pituitary supplement and the cycteine products. I agree that cleaning the blood is central to getting better and thought that was what a liver did. ne RE: bilirubin Helping the cell clean your blood may help. Stiffness , numbness or tingling cramping can be signs of a magnesium deficiency. > http://docs.yahoo.com/info/terms/ > > > > >
Guest guest
> Jurek, > When I was at my worst with the disease, I had elevated bilirubin levels and > they remained as such for years. Mine were high too... along with the other 2 liver markers on a blood test - AST and AGT or something like that. For the last couple of years, I've been taking Milk Thistle regularly, and now I'll pass a blood test with flying colors. I don't know if it affects my MS - but whether it does or not, I'm interested in keeping my liver happy 8). I'm also about 2 weeks in to trying something else that seems to have a small positive effect: My prescription for Amantadine ran out, and rather than get another one, I went to www.vitacost.com and ordered their Energy daily vitamins. I haven't needed the Amantadine in the last couple of weeks... --- Dave Boll http://www.daveboll.com/
