Guest guest
Hi you all, I've got to say...for some reason this week has been very hard for me. I have been teary far too often. My son , 8.5 months has been in his helmet for almost one month. I have been doing my regular PT with him for his tort. The PT said that she is not concerned with his tort as much as she used to be and to now work on gross motor skills. BUT... still sleeps with his head very much to the right despite repositioning. I worried about after helmet aftermath. I do not want this to reoccur. I know that it is rare...but, does anyone have experience with persistant tort post- helmet. I'd love any encouraging words as well. As it is..I am fighting back tears. I am not sure what brought this all on. I think I am just feeling overwhelmed with a number of things and the helmet and delay in gross motor skills has just been taking it's toll on me. My husband does not think any of this is a big deal and that I am overreacting... " just enjoy him, " he says. It's hard and I know it should not be. Thanks for listening...Joni (Oregon, Mom to 8.5 months)
Guest guest
Hi Joni, My baby was delayed with her gross motor skills due to tort also. I had Early Intervention come to my house along with PT twice a week. Have you contacted your Early Intervention program yet? If not they will help you. Are you doing stretches at home? They are what really helped 's tort. ALso are you a member of the tort group? If not you should really think about joining. It's Torticolliskids/ You can be a member of both groups. 's tort is fully resloved and she is all caught up in all areas except speech. We know how overwhelming this can be, but it does get better. Some babies tort is harder to resolve than others. Keep the big picture in sight. We are here for you. > Hi you all, > > I've got to say...for some reason this week has been very hard for > me. I have been teary far too often. Guest guest
Hi Joni, I wanted to let you know that I understand how you feel. My son Jack turned 8 months old last week and just graduated from his DOC band on 4/17. We have been in PT for his tort since he was 2 mos. old and it has improved but his tilt has become more noticeable again over the past two weeks. We recently moved to a new state so the only therapy he's been receiving is from me until we are able to get into the Early Intervention program. He is also delayed in his gross motor skills. I'm very worried about his head becoming flat again since he is not sitting up yet and still sleeps at night on his back. My husband also thinks I am overreacting (we've had more than a few DISCUSSIONS about it lately!). The therapist at CT in Virginia told me that there is only a 1% reoccurrence rate and that the older he gets the lass malleable his skull is. I know this probably isn't much help to you but I wanted to let you know that you're definitely not alone. I hope is doing well in his helmet. All the best, Colleen, Jack's mom Worried about reoccurance with Tort Hi you all, I've got to say...for some reason this week has been very hard for me. I have been teary far too often.
