Urban Research Theater seeks actors / singers / dancers

for a unique performance project:

The heart of this project is a " song cycle " with eleven original, highly

evocative, wordless

songs. The ensemble is currently in the process of developing a performance

piece that

weaves together movement and narrative elements within the frame of these songs.

This

process will culminate in a series of informal showings throughout July.

Participants should be able to learn songs by ear, but formal musical training

is not

required. Acting or movement ability is a big plus. Participants will receive

extensive

physical and vocal training, and are asked to contribute $150/month towards the

cost of

space rental. Participants must be available to rehearse on Thursdays after 6pm

and

Sundays 12pm-6pm.

To audition, you must sign up to attend an Urban Research Theater workshop in

May:

Sunday, May 13, 12:00pm-1:30pm

Thursday, May 17, 6:00pm-7:30pm

Sunday, May 20, 12:00pm-1:30pm

All workshops cost $10 for 90 minutes of rigorous physical and vocal training.

About the director: Ben Spatz leads the Urban Research Theater project in New

York City.

He has trained and performed with the Gardzienice Theater Association and with

artists

from different phases of Jerzy Grotowski's work.
