Is anyone aware of any books, journals, papers or publications written about bronchiectasis

from the patients prospective?

Hi Rob,

As you can see from my signature tag, I am a writer. I’ve

been very quiet of late, because I’ve been extremely

busy, but I have been reading the emails and keeping up with what’s going

on.

For some

months now, I have been trying to put together a book about pulmonary disease

from the patient’s point of view, but had a very poor response. My feeling

is that having a book such as this would be helpful, particularly for people

recently diagnosed. Since I can’t get a decent response, I’ve had

to ‘can’ the project.

However, I was recently approached by LungNet (the

Australian Lung Foundation) and will shortly begin writing a series of articles

for them about bronchiectasis through a patient’s eyes. I will be writing

the articles with a positive slant, showing what can be done (in regard to

getting on with life, and living a good life with some

lifestyle adjustments),

and sharing some of the

techniques that have helped me.

That said, I do know that I am one of the lucky ones.

I have a really good specialist and my disease is not advanced as some

on this list, although I have damage in three areas of my lungs. I also have an

immune deficiency and have four-weekly transfusions.

Because of the immune deficiency, I am one of those

who can no longer go to an outside job because of the air conditioning.

Rob, feel free to contact me

privately if you would like any additional information. write_cheryl@...
