I am interested in applying for the NY license. I do not have a

master's in art therapy. I am an ATR who got registered by option C.

Does anyone know whether I can get the license with my credentials?

As I understand it, you need to complete the Mental Health Counseling masters program in order to qualify for the LMHC. I think it's the same as our licensing in that you'd have to have specific course requirements in order to be able to acquire the license. What those are specifically for the LMHC I don't know. However a friend of mine is about to sit for the exam to get his license, his MS is in Mental Health Counseling, if you can't find more information, I can ask him what his requirements were to see how much they differ from ours. Hope that helps some, Jms375@... wrote: Hi, I'm hoping to get some help in better understanding our licenses. I am looking at various masters optons and I'm unclear about counseling, both school guidance and mental health counseling ..masters programs. As creative arts therapist we have LCATS, are we also considered LMHC professionals or is there additonal application process /experience /education requirements for the LMHC? I have an MA in CAT, would I have to return to school and complete another masters in mental health counseling
