WORKSHOPS:

'Setting up an Art Therapy Service in a Cancer Center'

Paola Luzzatto, Ph.D. ATR-BC

Monday, October 10, 2005

6:00 pm – 8:30 pm

Dr. Luzzatto will discuss how she developed the very respected art

therapy program at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center. She was able

to incorporate the art therapy service in numerous settings throughout

the hospital, and provide both in-patient and out-patient services.

These skills and information can be applied to a myriad of settings and

is a wonderful opportunity to learn from a highly skilled professional.

Paola Luzzatto, PhD started the art therapy service at Memorial

Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in 1995. She became an assistant

attending in the psychiatry department where she was able to develop

programs throughout the hospital. One of her great contributions to art

therapy was developing ‘The Creative Journey’ for cancer patients. This

program can be incorporated into various art therapy settings. She has

written numerous articles as well as lectured both nationally and

internationally.

LECTURES:

Video as an Art Material in Art Therapy

Barbara 'Basia' Mosinski, MA, MFA

Monday, October 17, 2005 --- 6:30-8:30pm

There is growing interest in the use of video as an art material in

clinical practice. This presentation will provide examples of how video

technology (which include video capture, image, sound and editing

processes) can be used in therapeutic practice.

Participants will learn:

1. How various applications of video technology can be used in

session.

2. Structures of exploration and structures of containment of

technology in practice.

3. Other possible uses and new directions of video technology in

therapeutic practice.

Barbara 'Basia' Mosinski is on the faculty of the MPS Art

Therapy Department at The School of Visual Arts. She is the 2005

recipient of the American Art Therapy Association’s, Pearlie

Cultural Award for The Use of Video Editing in the Treatment of PTSD.

She recently completed production on a video for the National Child

Traumatic Stress Network (NCTSN), which explores International FACES,

an agency that provides mental health services to refugee children and

their families.

Forensic Art Therapy

Marcia Cohen-Liebman, MA, ATR-BC

Monday, November 14, 2005 --- 6:30-8:30pm

Forensic Art Therapy (F.A.T.) is a non- traditional application of the

art therapy modality. It extends art therapy beyond the traditional

realm of evaluation and treatment and entails the integration of art

therapy practices and principles within a legal context. This

presentation discusses the juxtaposition of art therapy within standard

procedures and protocol of the judicial system.

Marcia Cohen-Liebman is a registered, board certified art

therapist. She is an art evaluator for children who are being sexually

abused, and is an assistant professor at Hahnemann College in the Art

Therapy Department.
