Guest guest
Hi , Let me clarify. Sulfasalzine is a medication to treat bowel syptoms. Not a med to treat EN. EN does NOT have bowel symptoms. But some disorders that cause bowel symptoms CAN trigger EN. Do you see the distrinction I am trying to make? Does your husband have EN? You stated that your husband had " panniculitis " . EN is one of many forms of panniculitis, and they are all different from each other. If hubby takes his meds for outbreaks of bowel symptoms, he may have inflammatory bowel disease--either ulcerative colitis or Crohn's both for which this med is used according to the link. The symptoms of EN are: Red, often hot, lumps bumps and nodules on the legs and sometimes elsewhere. Malaise--a feeling like the flu fever joint pains for some of us hylar lymph nodes in lungs involved for some of us. Please find out exactly what form of panniculitis your hubby has. The biopsy should give this information. If it only states panniculitis, you need to either have a different pathologist read the slides or have the biopsy redone and read by a more competant dr. when hubby is flared up. I would like to remeind all members that it helps all of us if you sign off with your name and diagnosis. This helps us to home in on those members who have the same dx as us so we can compare notes. It obviously would do little good to compare notes from a person with Crohn's Disease if the reason you have EN is due to taking birth control pills. There are about 100 known EN triggers: http://www.geocities.com/erythema_nodosum/en_triggers/index.htm Here is more info on the drug your Hubby takes: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sulfasalazine Love, idiopathic EN since 1968
