Guest guest
Gidday Maggie and All, Because of my bronchiectasis I was advised to terminate with my first pregnancy at 23. I had some problems and she was born 8 weeks prem but not because of the bronchiectasis. For my second pregnancy at 38 I had had pseudomonas for 6-7 years. I had less problems this time and went to full term. The only legacy I had from the pseudo was my own private en-suite room in a public hospital! For both pregnancies I had extra physio and would attend the hospitals for it. I went on to breast feed both children for a number of years. Both children seem to suffer less from infections, colds etc. than other kids. MY lass reckons it is because they have been around me for years they have an inbuilt immunity! Being an older mother the second time I am less fit and I am acutely aware that I may not see my lad through to adulthood. My lad knows no different but my lass recognizes how much less I can do. I think she is mostly worried she will be left to care for her brother! I do not think bronchiectasis or pseudomonas is a bar from having children. But if you are going to go ahead with a pregnancy it is better if you are younger and you have contingency plans. Good luck.
