The Eastern Region of the NADT presents:

The 2007 Eastern Regional Conference

Sunday, March 25, 2007

New York University

" Different Perspectives, Common Ground: the diverse

styles, populations and approaches of drama therapy "

The concept of diversity is very important in the work

we do. Drama Therapists work with diverse populations,

in diverse settings, with people who face diverse

issues. We also work in many different styles, using

different methods. We bring in different elements

based on our training and our personalities.

This Regional Conference will examine the concept of

diversity not only from the perspective of

multiculturalism, but also from the perspective of the

work that we do. The way in which one person

practices Drama Therapy may be, and often is, quite

different from another person’s practice.

And what of our similarities? Finding “common ground”

can bean important step in developing a therapeutic

alliance. In addition, as people who were initially

drawn to a career and a field of study that makes use

of the healing potential of drama/theatre, we already

have something in common with each other. However,

how we work and with whom, tends to vary, often

greatly.

What is your experience of diversity within your own

practice, from a multicultural perspective, or with

regard to the field of Drama Therapy itself? And how

do you find the common ground between yourself and

your clients? Or yourself and your colleagues?

If you are interested in presenting your work at this

conference, please submit a proposal by January 29,
