This is an unusual skin problem consisting of red, hard, painful lumps that appear on the shins and sometimes other parts of the body. The sufferer may be generally unwell with fever and joint pains. Over a period of four to six weeks the lumps go down leaving purple bruise-like marks that eventually fade completely. Treatment is aimed at dealing with the symptoms through pain-killers and rest while the body gets on with the process of healing.>> The last part is what interests me. The body heals itself when given enough rest according to Dr. kate. In the meantime painkillers are prescribed. Obviously this healing will not occur if the patient has an untreated related disorder or is suffering from an untreated infection or is taking a drug that is triggering EN. So if you experience EN that lasts longer than the usual 4-6 weeks, I would think that more investigation is in order, especially if you have given yourself the prescribed rest your body needs to heal. Don't let your dr. throw you into the " idiopathic " category unless he has explored every possible EN trigger. Nightie, Night Everyone! Love, idio.
