I have very dry skin all over my body. I inherited the dry skin from my father in addition to spending too much time in the sun over the years. I am 69 years old now so that is quite a few years of sun exposure. I have always washed my hands frequently even before I knew that I had bronchiectasis. So it is not hard for me to remember to wash my hands frequently and keep my hands away from my eyes, nose and mouth. Now that we have the heat on here in Texas, my skin is drier too

Norma,

I feel exactly the same - I will do whatever it takes to stay as well as I can. Children are really interesting to me, they are so inquisitive. They are never afraid to ask & that is good.

Becky...So very sorry to hear about you and your hubby. Do you have anyone coming in to check on you both and bring you some homemade chicken soup or something? Push yourself to take sips of water even if you don't feel up to it. Although I don't have to tell you that do I? If your Temp. goes higher than 103 you might need to concern yourself about a possible pneumonia developing so do your deep breathing exercises and try sleeping in an upright position using pillows for support. .

I carry around a little spritzing bottle of hand sanitizer and rub it on my hands as soon as I leave a store or whatever. (When I remember) I use it on my young grand children's hands too, when they come to visit . It is alcohol based so might not be a good choice if you have a dry hands problem. .

Is it Purell? I carry the smallest size in my purse. I use the one with moisturizers in it since my hands are so dry. The school children where I live are encouraged to carry the small size bottle to school with them.

Nona,

You are right. It does not matter what people think of the mask. I seldom notice that adults stare, but it is just normal for children to do so. I hope you read my response about the white masks. I went to Lowe's today, but forgot to look for the number on the box. I still have plenty of the surgical masks, and since they can be reused, I have enough for quite a while.

Take care,

Norma

Even though I wash my hands a lot, I have never noticed a problem

with cracking and bleeding skin on my hands. I think it might be a

coincidence. Just MHO, though.

- I also carry & use the antibacterial gel and I agree with you it probably has a lot to do with my dry hand problem. However, rather dry hands than a bigger problem. LOL I am always using it though when I am out...................Nona

I live in an area that has been getting an enormous amount of grey ash and soot blowing in from the huge Californian wild fires, that have detroyed thousands of acres and homes in this part of the country. We had been warned to use masks and stay indoors as much as possible and keep the windows closed because of the pollution. The air is still heavily polluted so I wear a mask every time I go outside but I have only seen one other person wearing one which surprises me. .
