Guest guest
Hi Everyone - thanks to Bunny and Nona for your comments and questions on my posting. I got my Bronchs as a result of freezing cold gas used during an appendix operation. My nasal passages were stripped of their linings and holes were burned into my lungs - result The Bronchs. It seemed to me that breathing in cold air on a long term basis opens a pathway for cold germs to sneak in to my lungs when I am not looking......and we all know what they do when they get into dark places, they multiply the little darlings....that means for me infections, antibiotics and a slow road back to feeling normal again. This is why I stay away from air conditioning and damp atmospheres whenever possible. Funny thing though a number of other people with lung problems say they couldn't live without their air con. as it helps their breathing!! Nona, you mention doing postural drainage twice daily - I normally have to do it once daily for about 5 days out of 7 (obviously more when I have an infection) and consider it vital as part of my health care. Bunny, I have heard that Sydney is bad for people with respiratory problems (and I don't suppose the bush fires help either). We are lucky in that we came straight to Brisbane from Scotland and the climate here has been very good for my health so we have never considered moving further North. When I was in the Lungaroos Support Group (predominantly COPD sufferers) they had a member who lived in Darwin and he loved living there despite the fact most of his family were spread through parts of Australia and he too wouldn't live without his air conditioning. It can be very frustrating for us as no two people seem to have the same symptoms or trigger factors for their infections and we can all really only comment on what happens to us.........this is maybe why the doctors seem so confused (LOL!!) When I go to my GP he just looks at me, smiles, writes out a prescription and never offers any advice! The good thing is that there are support groups such as this where we can all talk about our illnesses, our good times and bad and know that everybody understands. Bye for now.
