Hi Jaya, I hope you get better soon. I know its no fun being sick along with the kids. Being that you know more parents dealing with cranio, I thought I would give you some info. My daughter had a dentist appt a few weeks ago and I was asking DR if he had ever come across kids with dental problems resulting from plagio. It some happens that he also works alongside cranial facial surgeons at the Univ of Chicago. He was going to get some info from his associates. He was asking if our groups would like for him to speak in regard to surgeries being done. I did not know if he would be able to help us out some way. On Friday, he attended a seminar on cranio surgery. Let me know. I will be speaking with him again to see if he found any info for me. Belinda(Indiana)

Dear P-

It was Louise C. Pietrafesa MSW, ACSW. I was just frustrated because she

spent the weekend with you guys and then when given the chance appeared to have

no understanding what I felt we were all about. She does have compassion and

heart for people struggling to overcome compulsive overeating and is a very nice

and educated lady. It is just as a medical health professional I struggle

every day trying to teach others in my profession about the band and the

differences and how effective it can be with less complications. I saw this

conference

as a chance to educate more people in that direction instead I felt it did

the opposite.

Please everyone keep in mind this is just one person personal opinion.

I hear your frustration, but you misunderstood the emphasis of Ms.

Pietrafesa's talk. I've heard her talk before. That is some WLS

patients who don't or won't deal with the emotional adjustments of

weight loss (which there is many, )may focus on plastic surgery as a

cure all. Not just one surgery ,but many to seek the perfect body.

Rather than obsessive eating, they become obsessive about creating

a " new them " . Of course they will be on a perpetual search. There is

new research out which saids if the patient doesn't address the

issues of their compulsion they tend to transfer it somewhere else.

If the issues are addressed during the weight loss they tend not to

become ritualistic in seeking their idea of perfection . It happens

with bypass as well as banded patients. Ms. Pietrafesa has several

banded patients in her practice. Your right she is very caring.
