Guest guest
Hello all!!!!Well, I spent five hours this morning getting lost in the Land of You Tube! I thought I was only an hour or two, but got hopelessly lost until my stomach started to grumble!I ended up looking for info about the new Indiana 4 film, and found a glut of videos!!! Indy is teaching at YALE University in New Haven, Connecticut. I was on that campus three times! Really enjoyed shopping at their book store!I drove through New Haven many times too, and ate at my first vegetarian restaurant there.Filming took place in New Haven and West Haven, Connecticut. West Haven is where the VA hospital is where I went for Doctor appointments, and was an inpatient. I drove through West Haven many times too. I saw several familiar places in the photos pf the filming.Another scene was films in the Town of Essex, Connecticut, which was established about 1638. I lived in the part of Essex known as Ivoryton for six months in 2002. I walked all over Ivoryton, Centerbrook and Essex the last two months of my stay! I am still VERY familiar with the area!!A scene was filmed at the Connecticut Valley Railroad main depot. I toured every inch of that place several times, and took a friend from Brooklyn for a tour as was also a railroad buff! I climbed on every piece of equipment I could, and when I saw those photos all the sights, sounds and smells flooded my senses! I could smell the coal, oil and kerosene. I heard the coal crunching underfoot as I walked. Then links led me to The Connecticut Valley railroad. Videos of the train in motion with sound!!! HOT DAMN!!!! That provoked even more memories!! I had several movies running in my mind!!Needless to say I will go to view this film in the movie theatres despite the overly LOUD sound!!! I will purchase the DVD when it comes out to see all those places I am so very familiar with!!!!!Alas, the memories also brought tears of sadness because I am in saint Louis and NOT Essex! I gotta visit, and ride that train this coming summer!!!!!!!Everyone have a SAFE and HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!Terry Klasek
Guest guest
Hi Terry, You remind me of my ex, who first turned me on to Indiana movies, and who had a deep love of model trains. My favorite train movies? Among them is the old silent film, The General. AS, ex perhaps AS as well.Terry Klasek wrote: Hello all!!!!Well, I spent five hours this morning getting lost in the Land of You Tube!
