Guest guest
Hi , May I suggest BEDREST! In all my 38 yrs of having EN, and the first 5 being misdiagnosed, I have learned to elevate the legs, wrap them in elastic bandages [which can be adjusted so they don't hurt as much as compression stockings] and get as much bedrest as possible. That could mean staying in bed all day for several days in a row. I know it is impossible if you work, but maybe for the weekend. Walking or anything that is not antigravity like standing or even sitting with legs down is to be avoided, at least for me. I know others may not need to treat EN as I do, but it is safe and free and most importantly it works--at least it does for me. If you have the weekend off, give it a try. In the old days before modern meds, bedrest was the treatment of choice, and dr's sent patients with EN to bed for weeks at a time. Guest guest
I agree it does work, but in this house, it's impossible.my son is ADHD, my mom is a TERRIFIC nag, dad is lazy. If I don't do things they won't get done or they will be put in my face like guilt. I am dying to move out and as soon as I find a house I will. But right now , I am going to lay down , as I am having an awful pain week. Hv a great weekend all. Q.AOL now offers free email to everyone. Find out more about what's free from AOL at AOL.com. Guest guest
Bedrest worked well for me during my first bout of EN in 2004... I was off my feet for 5 weeks. I am moving next weekend, so I am going to try to take is easier earlier in the week. How come the doctors don't advise me to get bedrest? *sigh* Thanks for your support, it means alot. Guest guest
Hi and Group, <<How come the doctors don't advise me to get bedrest? *sigh*>> The problem as I see it is partly the doctors and partly ours. The doctors of today are trained to match illness with treatments that are for the most part medicinal: pills, injections and the like. It is what our modern world demands. How many people are going to stick with a dr. who prescribes " bedrest " . Like, " Huh? I have to go to work! You're telling me to lay in bed for weeks? I'll get fired. Isn't there a pill I can take? " The doctor's goal is to get you better as fast as possible, so often steriods are prescribed even before bedrest is tried--if doctors even know about bedrest. Sadly, many Dr's know very little about EN. I recently saw an online dr. tell someone that he doubted that birth control pills could cause her EN. I could not believe what I was reading. His online column was one of those " ask the expert " things. So much for his exertise. ;-/ I hope you and the group are enjoying a nice restful weekend. Shins up! Love, idio.
