Guest guest
Do let us know how the Duke intake goes! I never trusted my car to make it that far, there AND back, so didn't pursue it for , plus there was that durn time off from work, etc. And school, never wanted to miss school. (perfect attendance for years) Haven't been in that direction of Duke in YEARS but figure it's a couple hours+ to there from our area too. Yes, it's terrible about finding help for kids and finding someone who knows OCD! Even those who treat adults (say they treat) may not have any actual experience. But it does seem like there is more available for adults than kids. > > One of the hardest things to do has been to evaluate therapists. We really liked our recent one - but after 6 weeks, we have had to conclude that she is great with anxiety, but doesn't really get OCD. We have now called everyone in a 90 mile radius from the OCF website, but no one works with young kids. So, we finally reached out to Duke, and are going there in 2 weeks for in-take. Guest guest
I am very hopeful that the appt times will allow me to just miss a half day a week - obviously my husband cannot go as well. And if this works out right, we should only miss 2 days of school & then it will be break for the summer. I'm really lucky that my job is pretty flexible - I can work at night too. It's a little scary to contemplate, but we don't have a lot of options here. I'm already losing a ton of work time shuttling about to things that don't work. So keep your fingers crossed for us that we are " done " for the most part by September. It's so great that never wanted to miss school! Meg loves school too, but she'll take off in a heartbeat. There are way too many people that are not really trained in OCD - but say that they are. - in NC too! > > Do let us know how the Duke intake goes!
