Anyway, I'm really worried about my son - and have NO idea if this is normal -

or if I should worry.

He's almost 10 years old. We have always had a very open relationship and he

knows he can tell me anything (and often tells me more than I want to know!

lol). So, today he was crying quite a bit and really upset. He told me that

these thoughts of him hitting innocent people, old men, and his dad and I keep

going through his mind and he can't make them stop. He then said that sometimes

he also points a gun at us in his thoughts.

Hi all,

I haven't been on here for a long time, but I need some help. My son was

diagnosed with OCD at age 5. He'll be 10 in July. It's not the handwashing,

germ freak kind...but he feels like if he sees something bad or " icky " he has to

blink a certain number of times to get rid of it, or do a certain motion with

his hands to rid himself of " bad " things.

He's seen NUMEROUS therapists for this - and NONE of them did a damn bit of

good. All they did was ask the same questions week after week and say NEXT TIME

they would give us some strategies to try - but NEXT WEEK never came.

So...I don't think there are any therapists in the area left for us to go to!

We tried medicine for his OCD once, after therapy obviously wasn't doing any

good, and it made him extremely defiant, mouthy, mean, etc. Never violent -

just mean. So, we took him off of that.

But, now there's a new issue. Could the OCD be changing into different patterns

(now, the violent thoughts)? I have no idea...:(

We have always had a very open relationship and he knows he can tell me anything

(and often tells me more than I want to know! lol). So, today he was crying

quite a bit and really upset. He told me that these thoughts of him hitting

innocent people, old men, and his dad and I keep going through his mind and he

can't make them stop. He then said that sometimes he also points a gun at us in

his thoughts.

So, I don't want to overreact - I mean, could it be testosterone activating,

causing aggression that he would never act on? (He can't even kill a spider for

goodness sake!) OR

Could it be a warning sign? Is it a new form of his OCD?

Do other boys have similar thoughts pop into their heads, but just not tell

anyone?

I seriously don't know if this is typically boy aggression stuff - or something

serious. I don't want to underreact - or - overreact.

I absolutely do NOT believe for a second that he would ever hurt anyone for real

- and he is SOOOO upset (can't stop crying) about the thoughts - that he focuses

on that so he can't get it out of his head (like when a bad song keeps

replaying in your mind).

Help.
