Guest guest
Oh my gosh. It is really, really hard to make any money at first in private practice. I would doubt that anyone could make enough at first to pay for the whole family's medical insurance. My personal recommendation (and it's just a recommendation) would be to not quit your job with the benefits, but to cut back to part time until you see how the PP work goes. Or take a part time job at a hospital, and do PP as well. Maybe do hospital rounds in the morning and home visits in the late afternoon. - Subject: Medical InsuranceTo: Date: Thursday, April 15, 2010, 3:50 PM So I really want to jump feet first into being a private LC and hopefully doing per diem LC work at a local hospital. I want to give up my other benefited job so I can concentrate on all there is with being a lactation consultant! Does anyone have a private practice and pay for medical insurance? My husband is self-employed so I've been carrying the benefits. I wonder if there is a discount medical insurance like there is a discount malpractice insurance through ILCA or any other professional association? Thanks, Dana
