Guest guest
Cocoa mulch isn't an urban myth, it does exist and yes, is not safe for dogs (and some other animals) to consume: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Theobromine_poisoning Coconut (coir) does not contain theobromine (the toxin in chocolate). HOWEVER, ingesting any mulch/highly fibrous product (like coir) probably isn't healthy, might cause impactions, etc. and the Pap Pack -----Original Message----- From: sproutpeople [mailto:sproutpeople ] On Behalf Of donaeley@... I think the reviewer is mixing up " coco " with " cocoa. " I have heard that there is a mulch that smells like chocolate and will attract dogs to eat it. It may have some sort of cocoa used in it. (And chocolate is toxic to dogs.) I've also heard this (cocoa mulch) is an urban myth. I don't have any direct experience, but think this is probably what the Amazon review is mistakenly referring to. Dona
Guest guest
That's why I like to watch 'Reality Shows'. I like to see stupid people strut their stuff. ew Re: source for organic coir I've use cocoa mulch for years and have never seen any animal take the slightest interest in it. My neighbors dog lives on year after year even though it can walk right into my cocoa mulched rose bed. I think 99% of dogs are smart enough to know that something is not food. And as to the 1%, nature has it's ways of thinning the herd when someone demonstrates that it is too stupid to live. And we still don't know what the amazon reviewer was talking about. I was thinking that coir is used by people as reptile bedding maybe he was afraid it would kill his snake or lizard. It is useless to speculate about the concerns of stupid people.
