Guest guest
Your definition of genital anesthesia is mostly accurate. There is a main website link that will show you more information about PSSD. I was on the original Effexor around 1998 after taking Prozac and all it did was continue to damage my sexual functioning. Effexor XR is just an " extended release " form of Effexor and is an attempt from the pharmaceutical companies to extend the patent life of the original product. The whole problem is that nobody really understands what any psychiatric medication (SSRI, SNRI, MAOI, etc.) does to a person's brain. There are no tests for chemical imbalances, but it is known that psychiatric medications do cause chemical imbalances and unfortunately in my case, those changes seem permanent causing PSSD and all sorts of other problems. You are not alone with this condition. There are probably hundreds of thousands of people who have some sort of sexual dysfunction caused by psychiatric drugs. If you were only on Effexor XR for 2 weeks, you have a much higher chance of recovery than someone like myself who was switched from medication to medication over the course of many years. Because sexual dysfunction is such an embarrassing topic, most people do not report it. Luckily we have people like Vornan who are doing advanced level research on PSSD. Many of us in the group are doing their own research on the topic as well. Any help is appreciated. In my opinion, the best treatment options will come from the people who have the condition. > > Hi, > > I'm new here and when i went off effexor xr (I was only on it for 2 > months) I had some weird withdrawels for about a week.
