Guest guest
Hi Cindi, Amber is not an articulate signer for that same reason, but signing exact english is easier than asl for her and me. It is also what is used in school here. Amber has to have hands on to first learn the sign, though she is now trying hard to imitate when you present her with a new sign. but this is just her. all kids learn at different rates, autistic or not. and not all things work for every child. have a good day zelma mom to amber cindi dressler wrote: > Due to excessive finger stimming, Allie does not have the fine motor > control for signing. Guest guest
I was going to purchase a cheap talker, but I spoke to a teacher that specializes in autism, and she told me to wait until Allie was older and much more proficient with them. She said many are more trouble than they are worth. So I have decided to wait and for now I will continue to carry her pecs binder with me as much as possible. cindi zelma messer wrote: > > hi again, that is what i found with pecs also, in fact i haven't found a really good > augumentive device yet. we have used a dig-i-vox, wolf board and i purchased a link board > but nothing is as good as i'd like it to be. the signing has helped but not total answer > either. when out and about i rely on choices or yes or no questions. yes=thumbs up > ,no=thumbs down. hopefully eletronics will come up with a device that will work in all > areas. amber can not slpell so even though she can type , typing is not even an answer. > > cindi dressler wrote: > > > I think it is great that Amber is able to sign, it will help her in the > > future to let others that do not use PECS understand her.
