My daughter is attracted to African American women this year. And if two or

three women are walking down the street, she has to go over and greet them

and touch them. Luckily, most of the time, these women say hello and don't

mind getting touched by a kid in the middle of NYC. Sometimes, though, the

people are alarmed at the inappropriate behavior. I find not talking about

why she's doing it, is better for me. I think I would get myself into some

kind of weird racial discussion if I said why she was after them. Better

that they find her, disabled and leave it at that.

Once, we were watching her ride a merry go round and she waved frantically at

the African American family and ignore us. It really looked like they were

her family from her reaction to them.

It's better than when she used to mess with leather clad guys with lots of

tattoos and chains on the subway.
