Hi everyone, it's been about a month on emsam, and, unfortunately,

I've had very little benefit. I've had moments where it felt like

things may be coming back, but those seem to have stopped in the past

two weeks. For the past few days, I have been as numb as ever,

especially in terms of skin sensitivity. I might have a slight

increase in emotional response. I have noticed that my erections tend

to be stronger, I get more in the morning, and my penis is a bit

fuller at rest, but it still feels cold and poorly circulated most of

the time.

Since it hasn't helped me with my major issues, sexual numbness

obviously being one, and the other being severe insomnia (might

actually be contributing), it's hard to say whether it's 'working' as

an antidepressant; sometimes it feels like its helping, sometimes

not. One thing it has done noticeably is bring back my appetite a

good deal and alleviated a lot of digestive problems. Still not

totally normal, but I can enjoy food a lot more now and not worry

about having terrible indigestion.

So, I'm wondering how much longer I should wait on it, and if I

decide to stick with it for longer, if it's a feasible idea to add

something else to help. I guess that would be dostinex, requip,

neither of which I've tried, or maybe even trying ginkgo again for a

bit. I know these combos haven't been done before, so I guess it is a

risk, although I don't know of any specific contraindications with

these and maois. Truth be told, I am just getting very frustrated

and worried as I watch my life pass me by, and I'm not sure what I

should do next. I know most of us are in the same boat. Any

thoughts? Thanks.

I would give Emsam 8 weeks tops. Based on my own experience, getting

off Emsam (after barely 4 weeks) was a great decision. While on it,

it made me care even less about things and worsened my sexual

dysfunction even further. Since getting off, everything has returned

to my " baseline " .

I have no plans to try any meds anytime soon. Instead, I've been

supplementing with Alpha GPC and small doses of Huperzine A, which

have helped to give my penis/testes a " fuller " look, but that's

about it. Maybe you should give that a shot. I can't recommend

supplementing your Emsam treatment with another psych med.
