I want to welcome the new members to the group and tell you how excited we are to have you here. Please make sure to check the file section of the website as there is lots of information there. If you have any trouble getting to the website, please let us know. You may also want to check the archived messages because many good posts have been sent lately that I would hate for you to miss. Each member of the group is encouraged to contribute files and link information as well. If anyone has any suggestions on specific information that you think would be helpful to maintain on the website, please let us know. Also, once you look at the resources listings, please let us know if you want a particular item added- that's how we are going to build these websites and make them an even better source of support for all parents of children with disabilities.

Thought I would take a minute to introduce myself to the folks that don't already know me.I'm married to a CPA and live in Chamblee- that is in Dekalb County. In addition to my husband, I have three great kids , two of who are children with disabilities. My daughter is almost 29 ( mental age 6 ) and is a Partial Trisomy 13. This is a chromosome disorder and presents as profound MR in addition to a host of other medical anomalies. She is also blind in one eye , deaf in one ear, and just one of the sweetest kids you ever want to meet. Most of her files read " PDD-NOS with autistic features " because this explains best how she presents. She lives outside our home and requires 24 /7 supervision. My youngest son is almost 14 and has Autism - falls high on the spectrum but presents with significant ADHD and sensory integration dysfunction, as well as a severe learning disability in the area of Written expression. He attends a private school in Decatur . My older son is a typical ( whatever that is !!! ) 25 year old . I was dx'd with cone dystrophy and Stargardt's Disease ( a rare, genetic eye disease ) about 11 years ago.

As the new members get a chance, post a brief intro and let us welcome you officially !!!!!! Even some of the longtime members who don't post that often, you may want to chime in and let us know you're still out there, Bowen

Again, welcome to GA-ParentNetwork and Autism-georgia !!!!!
