Janine,

That is really a tough one that many have struggled with here, myself included!! I told 2 friends, reluctantly, but I felt they could use the info (one was severe, the other mild) and was not received very well by either. And those were friends! So, I don't know that I would be able to get that brave with a stranger having struck out twice and made to feel like the "over obsessed want everyone in my boat" friend. I don't regret telling them, it would have really eaten me alive holding it in, especially in the case of the severe child, but also in the mild case because I wanted them to understand how important repositioning is. I personally have to weigh each situation and figure it out from there, its tough!

Hi there

Just conducting an informal poll...

I saw a baby with pretty severe-looking brachycephaly at a play group

last week (does anyone else spend their time checking out other

babies' heads;-), it also looked like he had some facial assymmetry

as well and a noticeable difference in eye size. This little boy had

quite a bit of hair and it was still severe-looking. I was going back

and forth with the thought of approaching the mom and telling her

Isabella had been wearing a helmet (and still is at night) to correct

her plagio, but chickened out. My husband says I was right to mind my

own business but my father-in-law is telling me that I should have

told the mom about it, in case she didn't know that treatment was an

option. What do you all think? I may see them again this week.

Thanks,

Janine & Isabella (banded 1/31/03 at 8 months)
