Guest guest
the NAS has gone 'neurodiverse' Their 2012 line-up for 2012 (http://www.autism.org.uk/conferences/professional2012) includes: Dawson the Canadian 'autistic?' (never diagnosed) researcher who many of you may know from online lists but moreso for her efforts as a respondent to a family's court case in Canada (Supreme Court arguing against them (with others) because they wanted to have the govt pay for their child's ABA program. (http://www.sentex.net/~nexus23/naa_fac.html) Mills of NAS 'research autism' and members of the autistic rights movement will also be featured. Rights are one thing, demonising biomedical interventions and anything at all to do with helping our children when they have biological problems, is another, particularly when it's the parents wishes that are being demonised. Finally, good old Mesibov (TEACCH) will be there waxing lyrical about that 'wonderful' method of incarcerating our children in a world of their own, dependent on contrived environments, picture cards and visual schedules. Thanks NAS - you are great! Only £245.00 for members - get your tickets!
