Hello allHere is a chance to influence the autism research agenda. Research Autism are asking parents, people with autism and practitioners to fill in a questionnaire about what the priorities for autism research should be.PLEASE fill this in. http://www.mrcresearch.co.uk/surveys/nas3rd.htmA small group of people have also been convened by NAS (separate to this piece of Research Autism work) to look at improving the intervention information that is available for parents and individuals. We will take our lead from what you tell us in the Research Autism survey (as well as other sources) even though its not a great survey - please use it to say what you want by filling in the 'other' boxes. This is how I got my point across.We cant lobby for what you want unless you tell us what that is. PLEASE CIRCULATE WIDELY to everyone you know who has an interest in the priorities for autism research. Thank you.I have protested LOUDLY on the questionnaire and will also be writing to Research Autism about the omission from this survey of interventions and approaches that seek to work on social communication. These DO NOT fall under the categories (Q9) of 'behavioural interventions' or 'social skills interventions' but these are what lots of cutting edge and emerging research is pointing towards. You'll be glad to know that biomedical interventions have their own category - we need as many parents to fill this survey in and tell us what they think (even if the only feedback is that the survey has a lot of shortcomings) so that our interventions group can then use the information to lobby the decision-makers.ThanksZoe

The autistics i know wouldn't consider it as such. Also they keep using the annoying PC term of 'a person with autism' i dont choose whether to leave it behind when i go out!
