Guest guest
Dear All, Kishore has already let the secret out -Ashwini, my son, got into the MGIMS yesterday. Or was it a day before? - I am still struggling with differences in the time zones. Getting a child into a professional college, and a right one, is indeed a taxing and trying task for parents. Ashwini had joined Ferguson College, Pune a month back because his admission to the MGIMS was not certain. I was feeling extremely guilty that even though Ashwini was struggling to find his way into a medical school, I was leaving the country. The day I left India, some bright light did appear at the end of the tuneel. It took another week to see bright sunshine. Strange, and silly, as it may sound I was not able to call my home - did n't know that I have to dial 9 from my homephone before I start tapping 1-800... and, therefore, I too was not aware that Ashwini has already started dissecting the dura and cramming the Kreb's cycle. To complicate the matters, as I was getting homesick, my computer at Sevagram too fell sick. My family did not know how to contact me! A mail from Dr Ramji Singh, Professor of Physiology, brought the much awaited news about Ashwini's admission. Strange indeed it sounds, that both father and son have joined schools- separated by 14,000 kms! I don't know who has stepped into whose shoes. I would like to thank everybody who supported our family during a period of unvoiced stress. Now that Ashwini is back home, Bhavana, my wife, can breathe easy. And so would I. By the way, Yash, Kishore's son got 74% in the first MBBS at BJ Medical college, Pune. Time for double celebrations? SP Dr SP Kalantri Dept.
