What to try and get from the paediatrician?

We are seeing the paediatrician tomorrow for the first time in three years. The

reason for the referral is that I want them to check there is no medical reason

for the increase in difficult behaviour we are having.

In the past the paed always denied there was any evidence of bowel problems but

should know better now since Henry has seen Dr Fell, Dr Rawat and is under the

care of Dr Heushkel, the latter doctor wanted to give Henry a colostomy (!). At

the moment Henry's constipation is managed only with daily bisocodyl

suppositories. However, it is quite obvious to me that these are not now working

so well, as H is bloated, soiling a bit and doing meg poss. (A 2 foot one just

He has had a cough for a long time and often seems to have a blocked nose - I

suspect hay fever.

He is getting a bit fat as his tutors and I can no longer take him out for

walks, because of his behaviour.

The only biomed I have been doing is epsom salts baths, cod liver oil,

colostrum, D3, and probiotics.

I want to keep the paed off the topic of bowels as I only want to deal with the

gastroenterologist .

I am wondering what tests I could try and get eg urine organic acids, stool

test. His last stool test (not NHS) showed no bifidobacteria and the presence of

dientamoeba fragilis and giardia. I thought I could ask for a stool test because

he drinks from water butts and eats snow in areas where birds have crapped.

I also should like to check him for pollen/house dust allergies etc, since he

shows clear signs of hay fever every year and it makes him miserable.

Also I suppose a chronic cough should be looked into.

Can anyone suggest how to manage the appointment so it is not a complete waste

of time, please? All the previous occasions we have seen her have been pretty

useless. I suppose she could help us get more support from social services re

the behaviour - I need a second adult to be able to take him out and he is

getting fat because of lack of enough exercise.
