Guest guest
After wearing bi-focals for 15 years, I discovered that without glasses I could not see either close or far adequately to save my life without glasses (not even large highway signs). A major eye clinic in Southern California told me that since I was in Tijuana every day, go to one of those clinics as there were top docs there who have pioneered techniques now used in the USA. I did so. I chose to have mono-vision (after wearing contacts for 2 days to see if I could adjust). I read with my left and drive with my right. The doc told me that my worst scenario would be wearing glasses either to read or to drive. The first 3 months, as the doctor had warned me, I had problems with on-coming headlights, street-lights, etc were like star bursts. I had read about it on the internet, and it was exactly like the photos posted. I avoided driving after dark. The surgeon said that my eyes were really bad and the work was extensive - but my healing was far faster than he would have imagined for someone my age (he did not know my hiv status). Somewhere between 3 and 6 months my eyes adjusted. No more problems night driving. Also, my eye exams in the LSOCA study are improving -- Eyes are better than 20/20. The main problem was poking myself in the eye as I reached to remove my glasses -- and even after a year, I occasionally do that when I go to get in the shower. BEST money I ever spent! It is now a little over a year. Ellen Hahn ________________________________________________________________________ Try Juno Platinum for Free! Then, only $9.95/month!
