Hi,

I have bitten my nails for as long as I can remember.

I always had them bitten to the quick. When I was

about 20 I started getting acrylic nails and I still

bite them but at least I can work without having

people think I look bizarre. when I get stressed I

will even bite off all the acrylic nails.

Oh, also I have been treated for IBS, but that started

after I had my son.

During most of my life, I have bitten my nails and the

cuticles around them. I have had a couple of periods

where I let them grow out a little and stop picking,

but when stress picks up, I'm at it again. I usually

notice that when I'm home over the weekend and not

tense that I leave them alone and they start healing

up. My mom used to buy stuff to put on my nails that

tasted bad and was supposed to keep me from biting,

but I just spit it out and kept on. It is a

frustrating habit.
