Guest guest
I got an email newsletter from Garrett, the Dirt Doctor. He's an organic gardening guru in the Dallas area and has an organic gardening radio program there. This week's newsletter was about head lice. Here's what he says to do about head lice: *Typical Solutions* Unfortunately the common recommendations are toxic chemicals. Unbelievably ne and Dursban were specified often in the past.Products still on the shelves contain pyrethrum and synthetic pyrethroids. That's horrible advice. These products cause or increase allergy problems, especially for children with asthma. *Natural Tips** *Here are some tips recommended by others./Douse the hair in olive oil or mayonnaise, which dissolves the exoskeletons of the lice and their nits. Wrap the hair in a plastic bag and let set for 4-6 hours. Apply a 50-50 solution of mineral oil and vinegar or wash the hair with dish soap instead of regular shampoo because it will more easily remove the oil and vinegar. Shaving the head is also something recommended./*All of these are silly*. *'s recommendation* -- To eliminate head lice and head lice nits, shower and clean with herbal soaps such as tea tree oil shampoo or Dr. Ohhira's soap and then rinse the hair with full strength vinegar while the problem exists. Natural apple cider vinegar is the best choice. This process is all that needs to be done and it works. Organic products are best. H.
