Guest guest
I am concerned about the reports on the news lately about how "DANGEROUS" vicodin and percocet are. They are talking about banning them. Why don't they do a report on how hard it is for people in pain to get the drugs legally? Why don't they show how horribly people in serious pain are treated in ER's?? Lee Bertaud <fbertaud@...> wrote: Kristy, you asked what the law was in California regarding getting pain meds. Well, I no longer live in CA but I can tell you what I tell ANY doc that gives me a hard time about pain meds. The oath all doctors take when they become doctors begins, "DO NO HARM." I have quite vociferously reminded a couple doctors of their oath and stated that by choosing to leave me in pain without doing anything about it at that moment, they were doing me harm and I was not going to allow them to harm me in that way.I always got my meds, sometimes not enough of them, but I got them. Sometimes I refused to see that doctor again and more than once I refused to pay the final bill. I consider that I have FIRED that doctor and that's the only real power I have over them. THEY WORK FOR US, WE DO NOT WORK FOR THEM! Without us, the patients, doctors have nothing to do and no money for not doing it.That's how I handle it. I guess I show my combative attitude, as my past and present wives would consider it. I know I can get an attitude very quickly but I think I'm just looking out for myself and I don't let anyone deny me what it rightfully mine. If they try it, they will hear about it. And trust me,I have the temper of an angry grizzly bear when I think I'm being screwed with. It's hard to keep my temper in check at times, but I just don't like being messed with. So there. Guest guest
Lee, That's interesting b/c I've only heard of newsreports done on Oxycontin which is the one that I knew that they were also possibly talking about banning. I take Vicodin under the name of Lortab and it along with the Ponstel as part of my pain regimen. May I ask where I could find this report so that I can read it too? I try to listen to the news every day and I've not heard a thing about Vicodin and Percocet, just the Oxycontin which has had newsreports all over the place. I know that when they showed the story on Oxycontin here one of my friends got real concerned b/c she has to take it for her back pain in addition to a special salve. I wish that they would quit trying to scare everyone. I've never been to the ER as an adult patient to get treated for pain but I have a friend that has. She has endometriosis as well as problems with adhesions and other scar tissue. When she went almost a week ago (or something to that extent) and when the dr did the pelvic exam on her he was quite rough with her. He said that endometriosis isn't capable of causing the kind of pain that she was in that nite and continued to be quite rough with her. Her husband got very upset and explained the situation about how the two problems are causing her a lot of pain. The other thing that I wanted to add to this story was that the nurse who saw her before the dr got there also didn't help at all. She wasn't very nice either. A lady on the board that this lady who went to the ER runs suggested that she have her ordeal shown on public television. She also apologized if it seemed rude. Sometimes I wish that I could write my story and share it with the public like that. Oh well, I'm just glad to be here to support all of you and I thank you in return for your support. ===== Kristy http://www.geocities.com/sokokl/kristyspersonalpage.html __________________________________________________
Guest guest
These were TV news reports on my local stations. I will check and see if there is anything in print. Guest guest
NO kidding they are awful. My mom had hurt her shoulder bad. We were in the ER for hours and they didnt want to keep giving her more meds. none seemed to be working. She had dislocated and fractured or something along those lines, her shoulder. It was awful. And one of the nurses was so rude my mom told her off. LOL That was funny to watch too. but we must have had been there for gosh 7 hours or more before they finally decided what to do with her. Guest guest
, I know what you mean. Those " well-baby " appointments are hard to come by. I can surely understand your frustration! Please let us know how the appointment goes on Friday.
