Sheri,

Was Dx at 13 weeks didn't enter into PT until she was 5

months. I worked out the muscle enough to get her full ROM on my own

but couldn't get rid of the tilt.

's tilt would also look good and then bad again. This is

common. If her tilt became worse I learned to look and see if she

wasn't feeling well. Most of the time she was sick or cutting a

tooth. The tilt can also come back when they start learning new

milestones, like crawling and walking.

's tilt has improved over the past month to where you don't see

it unless you are part of the " tort police " After she got Banded it

started to look better. I think because the back of the Band brushes

against her shoulder and it is a gentle reminder to straighten back

up. Tilting can become a habit, so that even after the muscle is

stretched and straigthen the children still tilt. I talked about

taping with her PT but we were going to wait until

started walking. But now with the DOC Band I don't think we will

need to tape. (Taping is sometime used to get the last bit of tilt

out, after the muscle is completely stretched out.)

One of the Tort moms took some great photos of her little guy taped.

It is on the Tort BB, Under Photos in Tim's folder.

It isn't too late for , but you are right in pushing to get

him help. When I called 's Ped for a referal I say " Look I am

over my head and need help " I didn't care that they thought I should

have been able to do it on my own. I wasn't and I didn't care if

they thought I was just a bad or lazy mother I wanted and needed help.

PT will change as the child develops. It is crazy that the Peds

think we are going to know how to work with our children when

Therapists go to school to learn how and then make money at it.

Tort can sometimes be worked out by moms. My sister had two children

that had tort and she was able to correct at home. But some cases

are tougher than others and it isn't fair that we have to beg for

help.

I hope your EI meeting goes well. I are doing a great job.

is lucky to have you.

Stay Strong,

Long Winded Heidi- SAHM to 7, 4-1/2 (DSI, Apraxia)

11-1/2 months (VUR, Tort/Plagio-DOC Banded 2/14/03 and now Dx

as FTT)
