Guest guest
Cannot believe that while using the only thing in the house currently working......well, apart from the mini DVD player already nabbed by .........while we are mid-total-power cut!!!.......to find this thread..... For the first time ever, shaved his 'moustache' today! He was reluctant at first, when kenny decided it was getting ridiculous and he had to just shave it, and I was doing the whole rant..... " I told you you should have read that article in the autism file months ago....we should have been building up to this!!!!! " etc etc. Turns out it was more traumatic for me than for him..... is MY baby too! Well, kenny showed he could even touch the edge of the shaver (beats me how it actually works) and it would not hurt, then just took it and went to the mirror and did it himself! Looked so much better afterwards! I was feeling a bit shell-shocked etc, but later this afternoon, he came over to me and put his arms around me, and it was a real hug, not a sneak up and eyeball me kind of hug. I was just telling him how nice it was of him to hug me and he said " I love you, mummy! " proper intonation and everything! This is only the second time in his life he has said it spontaneously, unprompted. He is also 15. Totally made my mothers day!!!! Pity we could not plug into it.....we could light up the house on it! And I am aware of just how lucky that makes me.....my daughter also said just to think how many other mums would so love to hear this. But although I did not want to share at first, so as not to make anyone else feel discouraged, just remember this is a 15 year old. So, keep pressing on, because all that **** that if it doesn't happen by age 5, then it won't, is just that...****!!! Ps of course, by the time the power is back on and this can get sent, it may be past mothers day, as it just dawned on me as I hit send......but, also, to all of you out there, much as you would probably give your eye teeth to be just an ordinary mum, you are not. You are amazing, or you would not be dealing with all you have to deal with every day, and still coming onto here to seek out and share answers and advice. Pat on the backs, as well as hankies sometimes, all round. Sent from my iPad
