Guest guest Posted March 15, 2003 Report Share Posted March 15, 2003 One more amazing thing about our ped... 's appt was Wednesday. On Thursday my mom called & asked " did you get your referral yet? " I was like " Mom! We were just there yesterday! I probably won't get it unil Tues. " Little did I know, lol... it was sitting in the mailbox as I was telling my mom that. One day!!! So Friday morning I called Children's Hospital San Diego to sched. her consult with a craniofacial surgeon. The SOONEST they had was MAY 7TH!!!! Apparently, there are only 2 of those specialists at that hospital, and they are only there2 days per week. will be 5 months old by then! I really wanted to get the treatment started... the sooner the better as far as I'm concerned, cuz the sooner the easier it will be on all of us. And the ped. had mentioned that the cranio will probably want xrays before the appt, so I asked the nurse about getting that done before the appt... she said IF the dr wants xrays, he'll order them after the appt., then they'll send it for ins. auth., THEN she'll have the xrays. Then we would have another appt to talk about the xrays, etc. At this rate she won't be in a band before she is 1! :-( I was thinking since the ped was so nice & stuff.... I have to take back this week for a checkup for a cold she has right now... I'll keep my fingers crossed that your ped can get you in sooner. Please let us know. Good luck!! Guest guest Posted March 15, 2003 Report Share Posted March 15, 2003 Hi there. I am from Ontario, Canada. We had the same thing.Running into problems with CT Scans and Xrays. We asked our family physician and he ordered the xrays to be done. We were fortunate enough to not need a CT scan. No suture fusion!! You might want to try and ask you family physician...he might do that for you. Keep pressing the issue. Don't give up. Good luck to you. Also I would ask to speak with the specialist beforehand so that the CT Scan (or Xrays) can be ordered before the appt and no time is wasted. We were lucky. We weren't sent to a specialist. Our ped wrote the script for us. It was nice because when we finally made the decision to band, I wanted it done NOW! LOL! I was very impatient.
