We're back from a trip to the hospital I was dreading. H has been sedated (IV -

Consultant anaesthetist in attendance)had an MRI of his brain; has had eye drops

wile sedated and a look at the back of his eyes (impossible otherwise!); has had

a lumbar puncture to measure his CSF neurotransmitters; and has had some bloods

drawn (ditto otherwise impossible). Took 4 hours from start to finish and

involved a lot of staff.

I nearly cancelled the lumbar puncture, as I wasn't sure it would be worth the

risk, but he seems to be fine.

He has an appointment at the paediatric (cranial) osteopath tomorrow, as

apparently this can help after a lumbar puncture.

That's probably the last lot of NHS testing he's going to get, unless they find

something, that is.

He had buccal midazolam to relax him for insertion of the IV - they then took

the bloods. It was a close run thing as he was fighting back, but in the end it

was okay. Many people involved in this. Then the anaesthetist gave him IV

propofol and the other procedures went ahead. We were sent to the canteen...
