Well so much is going through my head lately since this is all new

to me ... I've learned so much and now I'm thinking back over the

past couple of years and how some of 's behavior fits so into

the category of AS.

Here's an example and question for you all ... He loves Curious

. I took him when he was 2.5 years old to see someone dressed

up as him at a store opening. He freaked out. I thought it was

normal, but now I'm wondering if he was just so confused as to why

he was out of the book. I planned on taking him to Sesame Place

this summer but opted not to because he got really upset when I told

him about this place. He insisted that they live in the TV and not

anywhere else. So I thought for sure taking him would not be

enjoyable for him. My husband and I are thinking of Disney this

summer ... have any of you taken your children ... have any of them

had this type of response?

I just started reading Tony Attwood's book. My heart keeps sinking

because it does describe so well in so many ways. One thing

that jumped out in the first paragraph of socialization is how when

introduced to someone they will start quizing math equations ...

has done this when people come over .. instead of saying hi

he'll start asking them what 8 plus 8 is ... and go on and on ...

everyone just comments about what a little brain he is but now I'm

getting concerned about this syndrome.

Any tips for a new mom dealing with this with a 5 year old are more

than welcome. My latest concern is that he's starting kindergarten

in the fall and doesn't do well in large groups, loud noises etc. I

don't have an official diagnosis and I doubt I will by then ...

Looking forward to what you all have to say!

Thanks!

Kathy
